This project entails retro fitting a community center, fitness center, and pool into a former auto parts manufacturing facility. This involves inserting a second level in the existing structure and adding a new wing to house the pool area. The design proposal calls for a number environmentaly friendly design aspects. This will be an adpative reuse, the existing steel structure is the be reused. Ample bicycle storage will be provided and the building itself is already located within walking distance of a number of residential communities. The heat island will be reduced by using a light colored roof. Numerous methods of daylighting will also be employed to substantially light the interior. Construction to commence in 2009.
